Honors College Composition is a course designed for students enrolled in the Honors program at Monroe Community College, but can be taken by any student who satisfies Honors requirements.

English 101 is a course emphasizing college-level, source-based writing (summary, analysis, synthesis, research), with special attention to critical reading and thinking skills. Students will draft, revise, and edit multiple thesis-driven essays. They will also study and practice argument and persuasion. (ENG 101 or ENG 200 satisfy the composition requirement for graduation.) Three class hours. (SUNY-BC) 3 Credits.

The Honors version of English 101, like all Honors courses, is distinguished by its heightened expectation for student-driven inquiry, intellectual rigor, motivation, and self-discipline. Students may be expected to participate in extracurricular events (for example, guest lectures and readings, film viewings and discussions, Scholars Day presentations, etc.).

Prerequisite(s): Enrollment in the Honors program, or Approval by the Director of Honors Studies.
