This course introduces students to the field of data science. Data science is a relatively new field that combines mathematics, statistics, and computer programming. One need not be an expert in any of these areas to become a competent data scientist, but a working knowledge of each is the minimum requirement. Data science is also one of the fastest growing forms of employment in the world, so this mini-course aims to provide high school students with enough information about the field to enable them to consider whether or not it is something they might like to pursue in college.

This mini-course introduces middle school students to the field of Data Science. The course is designed to be taught in a modified flipped format with students working collaboratively in groups in school and watching videos, listening to audio files, and working individually at home.

This is an introductory course in data science for K-4 students. It is a standalone project-based learning exercise that teachers may incorporate into a math or science curriculum. Because the course is designed for elementary school students learning in a traditional classroom, It contains a complete lesson plan for the teacher that allows but does not require students to work online.
