This virtual class will take students on an exciting journey through the American Revolution. Through various interactive, multimodal lessons and learning activities, students will explore the causes, key events, and important figures of the Revolution. From the Boston Tea Party to the signing of the Declaration of Independence to the Battle of Yorktown, students will learn about the social, political and cultural contexts of this time period and how the colonies eventually gained their freedom from Britain. The course will emphasize critical thinking, collaboration with classmates through online discussions, and creative assignments. Students will work with primary and secondary sources to understand the breadth and depth of the topic and engage in thinking that allows them to understand key perspectives, opinions and voices of the time. This course aims to help students develop a deeper understanding of American history and sharpen students' critical thinking skills.
