Our first two modules introduce 8th Grade ELA students to a number of short texts within the scope of this curriculum: 1) Short Stories and 2) Science-Fiction. Upcoming modules will include topics such as: Poetry, Horror, Coming of Age, Historical Fiction, and Memoir.
Students will read samples of different texts, including poetry, excerpts from fictional novels, articles, speeches, and arguments.
Students will be directly taught about the elements and features of different styles of writing.
Student classwork will consist of reading, annotations (notes taken about a text), multiple choice quizzes, written responses and activities, amongst other works.
Students will need technology to complete all work, and may use physical texts to demonstrate work, when necessary.
