Welcome to EDU 650: Family Involvement! This course is designed to help develop an in-depth understanding of the role parent engagement plays on academic success for children in grades K-5. Students will learn different ways to involve parents or caregivers in their children’s or child’s schooling. Topics include creating a resources center, an open means of communication, offering training workshops, and curriculum night. Students will gain insight on how family involvement starting at the beginning of a child’s academic life creates a positive attitude towards education. At the end of this course, students will be able to identify and implement a variety of technological tools and resources to promote parent engagement within the schooling system and the impact it leaves on student success.
