Exploring Art of Mexico
This course is an exploration of Mexican art spanning pre-Columbian era to art found in the 21st Century. The blended course provides secondary education students with general knowledge of Mexican art found in the ruins, in the villages, and throughout its cities of today. This is a hands-on course that will not only teach Mexican art history, explore the different regions and their rich cultural traditions; but also, will have the students recreating art they will be exploring. Students will collaborate in small online groups and have discussions about the information they are learning, as well as, the projects they will be working on. The students will complete their course with a portfolio of artifacts that demonstrate their knowledge and commentaries describing the work contained for each artifact. The students will end the course with a virtual art show and each school involved will have a cyber-wide celebration honoring Mexico.
