This is a 10 week fully online art history course. Students will be researching and discussing why people make art. Students will explore different art styles that occurred throughout history by reading required texts and completing personal research. The goal of the readings and research is to come to a conclusion on why artists created art by using certain art styles at specific times throughout history. The art styles discussed will be Realism from the Renaissance that took place between 1400–1600, Impressionism starting in the late 1800s, and Abstract Expressionism that began in the 1940s. Students will finish by examining contemporary art to see what artists are creating today, as well as, why. Students will be required to write reflections on their readings, and take place in meaningful discussions with fellow classmates using different types of communication resources
