Description:
Estimating and Planning 2 is an advanced construction estimating class designed to expand upon the principles and practices learned in Estimating 1. This course will be aimed at preparing students to be an integral part of a well-run preconstruction team. The course will utilize industry standard software and real world examples to demonstrate quantity take off using computerized take-off software, advanced labor and work crew estimation. Topics will include RFP/RFQ procedures, bid Leveling and scopes of work, RFI process, logistics and planning, BIM, constructability reviews, LEAN construction, and construction scheduling.
Students will:
· Perform Quantity takeoffs using takeoff software
· Utilize a computer to assemble an estimate
· Assign labor and material prices to quantities
· Analyze construction documents for constructability
· Analyze subcontractor quotes for scope of work
· Use computer software to create a logistic plan
· Analyze an RFP
· Create a construction schedule
Students will learn essential skills that are used in the world of preconstruction. Throughout this course, students will be exposed to real world examples and documents from actual construction projects located in the united states.
