This Health Education course is intended for elementary students in Fifth Grade. The course will show students the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle by learning about nutrition and physical activity. Students will learn the different healthy foods they should be consuming on a daily basis and the portions from each food group that they should be consuming a day. The students will also learn how different physical activities affect their bodies and help keep them healthy and strong. The goal of this course is to have students learn the necessary skills to live a healthy and physically active lifestyle. 


The course will begin with students learning about nutrition. Students will be able to identify the five food groups, portions from each group that should be consumed a day, portion control and the six main nutrients. The course will then progress into how these nutrients affect the body and how physical activities help keep the body healthy. The students will learn about muscular endurance, muscular strength, cardiovascular endurance, aerobic and aenerobic exercise.
