Introduction to Culturally Responsive Teaching

In this course, learners will be introduced to the ideas and pedagogy of Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT). The course will cover the overarching concepts, as well as the origins and the argument for the need to teach with a culturally responsive approach. In addition, this course will help learners to understand their own personal biases in teaching and how it may affect their ability to practice CRT. Finally, learners in this course will explore practical applications to CRT and submit a written response of what personal teaching practices need to change in order to teach more culturally responsively and what methods could be applied to their teaching practice in order to reach students from different cultures, ethnicities, and linguistical backgrounds.
