This First-Year critical thinking course is specifically designed to introduce students to critical thinking skills through the examination of the impact of personal technology use on our health.  It provides the opportunity for students to work closely with a faculty mentor while establishing a sense of community among participants.   As technology increases our efficiency, opens new worlds, and brings us together, research indicates that the increase in screen time and subsequent decrease in daily physical activity may be negatively impacting our health.  Is this leading to an American population who may be living longer but may not be living longer well? In this course, you will learn and practice critical thinking skills while examining problems and opportunities linked to personal technology use and health. We will discuss topics such as screen time, physical activity, posture, and other orthopedic considerations, eSports and gaming, health-promoting apps, and fitness/health trackers.
