Verbal skills, listening comprehension, and compositional structure are emphasized in this course as students continue embarking upon their journey towards becoming critical readers, writers, and thinkers.  Students will learn effective research methods in addition to experiencing a wide variety of compositional approaches.  American Literature is the primary focus of the readings for this course; however, there is a variety of non-fiction and poetry interwoven within the curriculum as well.  This course is inquiry-driven and calls for students to think deeply about an essential question that ties each unit together.
