Hello and welcome to DEN 2300! Congratulations on completing your first year of the dental hygiene program. This is an advanced didactic course designed to support students in developing an appreciation for the concepts, topics, and procedures associated with the practice and principles of dental hygiene, as well as evidence-based application in clinical oral hygiene care. This course is designed to help students expand critical thinking and reasoning skills pertaining to the science of dental hygiene diagnosis, treatment planning, and competency in theories underlying the Dental Hygiene Process of Care in areas such as diagnostic assessments, special needs patient care, patient communication, implant maintenance, and oral therapeutics, among other dental hygiene practices. Progress into subsequent clinical dental hygiene courses is contingent upon successful completion of this course.
