In this course, we will be focusing on New York State Learning Standard, 1a: Students will perform basic motor and manipulative skills. Students will attain competency in a variety of motor and sports activities. Motor and manipulative skills are very important and will allow students an opportunity to excel in any sport or physical movement. Some examples of motor and manipulative skills include skipping, jumping, throwing, dribbling, and striking. By the end of this course, your goal will be to be able to master the following performance indicators: 

  • Identifies four characteristics of a mature throw 
  • Uses concepts of spatial awareness and movement control to run, hop, and skip in a large group without bumping or falling 
  • Identifies and demonstrates the major characteristics of mature walking, running, hopping, and skipping
