Since the release of The Hunger Games book and movies, dystopian literature has exploded in popularity, particularly for young adult and teen audiences.  We seem to keep wanting more of these stories about dark futures and young characters who fight against oppressive societal structures.

This unit will take you on a journey of reading, writing, and thinking about dystopian texts, from noticing how the future world has gone awry, to thinking about how characters break rules and respond to power, to analyzing how these stories reflect issues in our own lives.  The readings and short films in this unit will push you to see the world in a new light and perhaps inspire you to take action for a better tomorrow.
