Student Introduction:

Hello! Welcome to Sophomore English Language Arts. I hope everyone feels rejuvenated after our Summer Vacation. Throughout this course, we will use Moodle to engage in discussions, submit assignments, review materials, and much more. You should be signing onto our Moodle class each weekday to earn full participation. Ensure you have responded to your peers in the discussion, your responses can continue as long as they need, but they shouldn’t be cut short because someone isn’t actively engaging in the course. Each Module will include clear instructions; however, in case you find yourself confused please use the "Ask a Question" feature. I look forward to working with you all! ☺️

Notice to Parents:

Dear Parents,

My name is Ms. Stephanie DeMolfetto and I will be your child's English Language Arts teacher for their Sophomore year. I understand distance education may be something you find you’re uncomfortable with, but I promise to be available to answer any and all of your concerns as we move forward. Students will focus on the unit “The Loss of One’s Individuality” alongside Elie Wiesel’s memoir, Night. Each week students will begin a new Module that will focus on learning something different from the reading in preparation for the New York State English Language Arts Regents Examination. However, as this is a distance course, I do hope each of you will assist me in ensuring students are in a comfortable learning environment, have eaten a meal, and are on a sleep schedule to ensure they’re always prepared for class. The Modules will include discussions in which students are expected to respond to their peers each weekday after having read the text(s) and watched the mini-lecture. Students have been provided with an area to “ask a question;” however, I encourage each of you to personally reach out to me if any concerns arise at sdemolfetto@albany.edu. I look forward to working with each of you this semester and ensuring your child has a seamless experience in online learning.

Thank you,
Ms. S. DeMolfetto
