In this course, scholars will learn about characteristics of the 8 biomes that make up the planet Earth -- the tropical rainforest, coral reefs , taigas, the tundra, temperate forests, grasslands, savannas, and deserts. They will also learn about the plants and animals that may live in these environments and what adaptations these organisms have made to adjust to their biome. Scholars will learn through assignments such as, but not limited to: course readings/articles, narrated slideshow presentations (mini-lectures), interactive videos, digital worksheets, projects, virtual field trips, and class discussions. There is no final exam associated with this course. Instead there will be a project/activity due each module that incorporates a cumulative understanding of the information discussed. There will be 2 quizzes during this course (the first one is on the first 4 biomes, the second one is on the last 4 biomes). There will be a cumulative project assigned for the last module that will serve as the "final exam". This course is graded on a point system and final averages will be calculated after points earned are totaled.
